Nation gets 'B' to Support Care Hospital

October 5, 2011 – Most people with serious illnesses – and half of their caregivers – may not get the care they need.

Support for chronically ill patients and their families need is called palliative care. This is a team-based approach that adds a layer of support and coordinate medical services are often fragmented patient needs.

The focus is not limited to patients who are dying. Palliative care can actually improve survival for seriously ill patients. This approach not only helps patients but also save money. More and more hospitals spread the palliative care team – but not enough to meet demand.
